DO YOU!!

Happy Spring in Michigan!  As the trees begin to bud and another season begins, let’s take the time to reassess.  In this post, I’m going to encourage you to take a step of faith and…DO YOU!

Come join me as I share my self-discovery, that I believe, will empower you as well!

 Let Me Begin…

I’m writing this post while here at our Michigan place…a secluded, quiet sanctuary surrounded by woods with no noise from afar.  Michigan has always been my heart throb…the place where my inner child can truly flourish!

Pleasing Others…

I hadn’t gotten a bite on what to write for this week, until my precious “oldest” of friends..our friendship has spanned 50 years…YIKES!!…visited this past weekend.

She made the comment about how so many of us are so concerned about what other people think.  That stirred thought about myself.  As a younger woman, and even now, I have a tendency to want to please others…to do things I might not really want to do, but instead, do it to please another.  Can you relate?

Back when I was in college, my mom, meaning well of course, influenced me to get into special education.  I ended up following her direction instead of checking my own heart about it.  Was it truly what I wanted?  No, I thought perhaps my mom knew better than I did about what was good for me.  Talk about crazy!  My saving grace was I graduated with a double major…the other being elementary education…which was right up my heart’s alley!

Are you like I was…doing things not from your heart’s directive, but instead…to please others?

Not Imposing…

Back to my precious “oldest” friend…she continued about her mom and how as a young girl, she and her siblings were encouraged not to impose on others.  It makes sense given the era we grew up in.  In our day, kids were expected to be seen and not heard.  Not imposing on others was a mindset of many back then.

That set my thoughts ablazing!  Pleasing others?   Not imposing?  What kind of a squeeze can those supposedly “good” assumptions put on a person?

I believe there are a lot of us out there, regardless of when we grew up, who encounter these challenges.   Whether from childhood or now…well-meaning people…even ourselves, have inadvertently burdened us with thinking we need to please others and not be an imposition.

It truly is time to…DO ME!…DO YOU!

 Let Go!

Let’s start by letting go…taking off the blinders…the beliefs that we need to please others…that we don’t want to impose…that we don’t have anything to say or do that others would be interested in.  I had to fight through that last one, and still have to snub it out when it rears its ugly head.  These are all negative mindsets that shackle our growth…that keep us from living life fully as ME…as YOU!

 Reprogram!

It’s time to change our perspective about ourselves.  We each have special talents that are exclusive just to US!   “We are fearfully and wonderfully made,” says Psalm 139:14.

No one else can do what God has created us to do!  The One who Made the Universe made each one of us.  Think about it!  How valuable each one of us is!  It’s time we realize our true worth and pursue our talents.

Move!

Take the first step.  Or…re-take it if you’ve slipped.  My chat with my “oldest” friend was an “aha” to me to really VALUE what my heart’s desires are…to cherish them…and move forward to share them with the world.  For me, it’s writing and teaching.  My book, THE CURSIVE LETTERS REVOLT!!, is a fun, “wake up” story on how important cursive writing really IS and that we shouldn’t forsake our signatures. Check it out at www.thecursivelettersrevolt.com. And teaching…whether it be cursive writing, helping home school parents, or inspiring others to live their live fully, purposefully, and powerfully. I thrive when I’m instructing others in these areas.

What’s it for you?  Have you taken the time to search your heart and find what stirs you to the bones with passion and joy? Your talents?  Go back to my blog, “Uproot Your Happy,” if you need a searchlight to find your gifts.  It’s an investment of a Lifetime!

NOW is the time to… DO ME!…DO YOU!

Trust!

You’ve taken the first step.  Move off the dock.  A ship can’t get on course until it’s untethered and free in open water!  TAKE ACTION!

If you have to, do it afraid.  Joyce Meyer wrote a book on it.  Check it out. “You Have What It Takes to Do It Afraid,”  https://joycemeyer.org › everydayanswers › ea-teachings › do-it-afraid

Take the small steps.  For me, it was making the decision to write a book AND to get it published. I researched self publishers and local illustrators.  I was amazed at how “jazzed up” I got when I made those first moves.

You’ve got what it takes.  Your gifts are inside you, waiting to be shared with the world.  You aren’t alone.  “God has you in the palm of His hand.” Isaiah 49:6.

Be True to You!

We owe it to ourselves and our Creator to BE ourselves daily, moment by moment.  Let’s purpose to be more real with ourselves and others.  Say what we mean.  Do what we believe in.  Shine big!

The World needs more people living authentically…purposefully…with love and prosperity for all.

It sounds like a big order, but if you and I each take our first step…DO ME!DO YOU!…we will be pleasing ourselves and the One Who Created Us.

Here’s hoping you take time this week to reevaluate…set a new perspective…write it down…take the first step…and trust!!

I’m in!  How bout you?  Our hearts are calling us!!!

Until next time…

DO YOU!!
