Halt Your Hurry!!

Greetings! Wow! Just coming up for air here and want to show you how you can SLOW YOURSELF DOWN to enjoy Life more…

I’ll be preaching to myself …hop in with me!

Birthdays bring Surprises!

I just celebrated my birthday this week and had an AHA I want to share. Have you ever promised yourself you want to do….(1000 things)…in one day or by the time of…?

As my birthday opened, I made a pact with myself that I would FINALLY repot my two plants. I had promised myself I would do this…hmmm…do I dare say…for more than a year now! Eek!!

Of course, my birthday gift to me was their repotting…and YES I did it! (Yahoo!) Philly and Monet are now new, fresh transplants! Boy, do I feel FREE looking at them. (No more guilt!)

So here’s the AHA…

Seeing their squished roots in the bottom of their old pot and putting them into their new planters, gave me an image of how we as humans are just like my plants.

We can get squeezed in just like the plants…tight in one spot…unable to move. We have to make a quality decision to REPOT ourselves! What’s squeezing you so that your growth is hindered? Have you put the squeeze on yourself perhaps?

One of my squeezes (I have a few!) is TIME! I find, no matter how hard I try, that I more often than none, seem to be in a hurry. Have you ever challenged yourself to see how little time it takes to get ready for work? How little time do you need to put on makeup, prep your clothes, drive to work and clock in PEACEFULLY?? Poppy cock! I’ve fooled myself way too many times to even count!

I Decided!

My birthday gift to me as I repot myself this 67th year of my life, is to purposefully SLOW DOWN and….HALT MY HURRY! What’s the rush anyway?

My decision was validated yesterday! On my shift at Trader Joe’s, I waited on a cute, spunky lady who came through my line. Apologizing for her wait, she was quick to reply, “I have ALL the time in the World! No worries!” Wow! What a sweet breath of fresh air she was to me!

So often the time constraints that pop up in our lives are those we have put on ourselves.

Start Here!

Right now where you’re at, sit down (Write yourself a contract!) and choose the areas in your life you may need to put the breaks on. Too much TV? Too much phone time? Too little time to adequately take care of yourself…exercise, massage, quiet time, journaling…you get the idea!

How Full is Your Plate?

Have you loaded your plate with “to do’s” that may not be as necessary or important as you may think? I constantly have to ask myself if there is anything or anyone in my life that may not be serving me.

The HURRY here comes in when we put things on our plate before counting the cost. Sometimes what we think is a “good” thing to do, isn’t always for the best of everyone involved. I have volunteered so many times to help someone with a need of theirs, when in Truth, it wasn’t mine to do.

This new year of my life, I am going to SLOW DOWN before I enlist myself for service. It’s not being selfish. It’s using wisdom to SLOW DOWN, step back, pray about the situation and THEN decide if it’s yours to do!

Slow Your Mouth!

We can Halt the Hurry with our mouth too. The Bible says, “Be quick to hear and slow to speak.” (James 1:19)

Even if I have to put my hand over my mouth, I am determined to SLOW DOWN on what I say. Empty promises…negative opinions…complaints…judging… I am Halting My Hurry with My Mouth!

Join Me!

Here’s my open invitation. Let’s purposefully take time out this next week to SLOW DOWN…our pace…our speaking…and repot ourselves.

Getting ready for work, driving, watching my promises…I have ALL the time I need!

Join me and HALT YOUR HURRY!

Until next week…

Sunny thoughts…keep rocking out your cursive too!
